Problem horses

Problem horse!

Help in selling your problem horse
Have you found yourself with a problem horse?

Bought the wrong animal?

Is he / she too young and green for your riding ability?

Over horsed?

Has your horse developed a problem you can't deal with?

Is your horse lacking direction and confidence?

Have you reached a point where you are too nervous to ride or handle the horse, and don't know what to do?

I can help.

I do believe that there is a suitable home out there for every healthy horse.

I hear such terrible stories about horses and people who just don't get on. If your feeling frustrated and confused about your horse, he can't be too happy either.
Do bear in mind that what may be a problem to you, may not be to somebody else.

Firstly consider whether this problem is one which can be solved. Please contact me for details on re training and lessons if you would like my help to get you and your horse back on the right track. It may be that there is a simple reason for your horses behaviour. If so the solution may be just as simple. It often takes an experienced eye to see just where the problem is rooted before we can get to grips with unpicking the issues. If there is a solution for you and your horse, I will help you find it.

However sometimes we have to admit that horse and owner are completely unsuited. It is important that we can admit this, as often it's completely true and denial will only prolong the frustration.
If you have definitely resigned yourself to the fact that the horse is not for you, then I can help. I do not like to see unhappy horses and unhappy owners battling each other every day when both could be so much happier in a different situation.
Just like some people will never get on, sometimes there is a distinct personality clash between horses and owners too.
Or perhaps the behaviour has escalated so much that you find yourself totally out of control. Admitting you have reached your limit (or been pushed past it!) is often the best thing for you and your horse. It is not defeat, it is realisation.

On occasion I may be able to take horses on for re training with a view to selling to a new home.

I can only do this if you are completely honest about your horse, so that I might have the best chance at re training him / her to do a job in another home.

I won't be put off by the behaviour, only by you if you hide it!

You can either pay for the weekly keep and training, and then I will take 10% of the sale price. Or I may agree to take your horse on with the Equine Agent saver sales package. See the 'Selling service' page for details of this low cost option.

I will also sometimes agree to buy your horse for a very low price. This low price will reflect the amount of work and training your horse requires to become a useful and saleable animal who will do a job for the right rider. As usual you would be most welcome to keep in touch and your details would be passed on to the new owner unless you asked me not to. You could also receive regular updates on how the horse is progressing.

Please be aware that without a realistic valuation on the horse, I am unable to help. If you think I can sell your bucking bronco in a fortnight for £8000 then don't call me.

This service is only available at my discretion where I have space on my yard.

Please contact me for more details.
I will need your post code to quote you for the initial assessment viewing.
Please be aware that without this initial viewing I am unable to consider selling any horse. I will not have you "send" me a horse if i have not assessed him / her first.

Thoroughbred owners........
Unfortunately due to the amount of poor quality thoroughbreds on the market and their tendency to be tricky for every day riders, I will only consider unbroken or un raced and younger thoroughbreds that do not have serious behavioural problems. The low value of these animals means it is not viable for me to spend months re training them. However I may be able to help in some way. Give me a call and I can at least offer some advice. Although if you have a thoroughbred and you are reading my 'problem horse' page, then you should not be expecting much money at all for your animal. Unless it is an exceptional thoroughbred with no problems.
